Curated by Del Sol Quartet violinist Hyeyung Sol Yoon, this program explores the long history of Korean immigration to San Francisco, from those seeking refuge from Japanese-occupied Korea in the early 20th century to more recent immigration post-1965. The concert featured San Francisco-based composer Jungyoon Wie’s “Han”, as well as newly created pieces inspired by stories of joy from the elders of MARU’s Jikimee Senior Leadership Program. Celebrating the power of joy and resilience as Del Sol Quartet highlights the vibrant immigrant experience through original pieces.
