Why join MARU?

  • Our team is dynamic, fast-paced, and passionate
  • Quality culturally-responsive services is our priority
  • We have a caring and supportive staff culture

"The [MARU] staff aren’t just staff; they are much more. They are pillars—anchors in the stormy seas of life, providing stability, strength, and hope when it seemed like all was lost." - Mrs. Kim, Jikimee leader and Senior Case Management client

Language Ambassador

MARU supports immigrants and refugees who are monolingual or have limited English proficiency. Because language barriers often block access to essential health, immigration, and social services, MARU provides a leadership curriculum that empowers participants to advocate for their communities. Our senior leaders speak directly to legislators and local decision-makers in their native languages, and our Language Ambassadors offer interpretation and help community members navigate critical services. By joining us, you’ll gain hands-on experience in language access and equity work. Fill out our Volunteer Application, and a staff member will follow up with you.

Corporate Champions

  • Corporate volunteering strengthens communities and boosts employee engagement—it’s a win-win for everyone. MARU invites corporate volunteer and employee resource groups to make a lasting impact through our “We belong, We lead, We build” initiative. Whether through hands-on workshops, assembling wellness kits for community members, or supporting special events, your team will help strengthen our culture of care, reach more people, and promote wellness across our diverse community.
  • Fill out our Team Building Inquiry form, and a staff member will contact you to customize options based on your schedule and preferences.
  • Employee Volunteer Day: Gain hands-on experience in one of KCCEB’s events or activities.
  • Event Sponsorship: Support us in raising visibility for mental health, wellness. Let’s bring together experts and innovators!
  • Employee Wellness Event: Learn about our programs first-hand through our culturally-responsive wellness workshops.

Employee Giving Fund: Donate to KCCEB with giving that matters.

Behavioral Health Intern

MARU invites mental health graduate students to join our 10-month internship program aimed at expanding the pipeline of Asian professionals in behavioral health. Interns receive rigorous training rooted in culturally responsive, community-defined, and equity-centered practices. Placement sites include high schools, middle schools, and community colleges, where interns engage in outreach and education, clinical counseling and case management, wellness groups, and advocacy on issues such as anti-Asian violence, language access, and care equity. This is a meaningful opportunity to serve diverse immigrant communities while building strong clinical and community leadership skills. Bilingual and bicultural candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Trusted Messenger Interns

MARU’s Trusted Messengers Interns (TMI) Program supports the Community Outreach team through outreaching, phonebanking, and training/workshops with regards to the priority campaigns: HeatReadyCA, Save Our Water, Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, and other information campaigns as needed. TMI may work on-site, at community events or remotely to provide essential public health information to diverse immigrants and refugees throughout the bay area. Interested candidates please send resume and three references to Manith Thaing, Community Outreach Manager, at manith@maru.center
